So blind this prison mine
Of stone and will cold and shrill
Bound inside a lie of life
I look out at the world inside.
Laughter taunts creeping in
Warmth stolen in love pretends
Crimson bile consumed in each breath
Deludes the heart so pure it dies again
My body of flesh rigid made of ash
Floods the dream of what was
Never more screams out for more
Till all is lost a flood of sweetness
So blind this prison mine
The pain is all I know
From head, body, fingers and toe
Filled my head with lavish dreams of dance
Open air decay on cold summer day
Slips inside the hole of soul
Opened more for death again
Willing me alive to avoid my eye
A life stolen sought to steal again
Shatters all hope of freedom
So blind this prison mine

a childrens story
I've joked for years about writing this. a children s book called "everything Dies". well here it is. it may seem Morose or morbid, but hey, life is morose and morbid.
Little Tommy watched the black robed man walk up to him, and smiled when he put out his hand.
“Hello Tommy, I am death. Do you know why I am here today?”
No Said Tommy, was I bad?
“No, you were not bad Tommy. Everyone dies.”
Tommy looked at death for a moment with a frown, and then asked, “Even my Dog Spot?”
“Yes Tommy, even your dog spot.”
Tommy looked at death a little longer this time then asked, “Why? Why must everyone die?”
Tommy could tell death was smiling at him, and when he spoke his voice and words were very soft, “well Tommy, come with me and I will explain it to you.
Death lead Tommy to a tree, that was very big and old, its branches seemed to cover every in of the sky. Death points to it and the orange mark on its trunk. “See this Tommy? Men have chosen this very tree for its size and age. It will soon die so that men can A) put a road through this place, B) make boards to build houses with and C) make paper to write on.”
Tommy frowns, and says. So our homes and books are made from trees? That is why they must die?”
“Yes Tommy, that is one reason why”. Death then takes his hand again and walks further along, stopping at a farm next. He points to a field of wheat, its golden color shines in the light of the sun. Death points at it and says, “This wheat will die to make food for men and animals alike. It is part of a circle that has existed for longer than men have been alive.
Here he then points to a Cow.
“See this cow Tommy? It is used by men to make food, and clothing. But first it must die. As the wheat died to feed it and keep it strong. It will also die to keep you fed and warm.
Tommy says, “But it’s not hurting anyone one? Why must it die?”
Death sighs and says, “man has not found a way to survive without it. There are many that say man can survive without cows for food, but the truth is, man cannot. Without cows for food, men will die as well.”
“I see,” says Tommy. Is that the only reason we die?”
No says Death. There are many reasons men die. Do you want to know what those are?”
“yes says Tommy, I do.”
Death takes his hand and walks a little further along and enters a small town. Tommy knows the street they are on and points to the Candy store where he gets his Chocolate’s. “I know that place, its Mr. Bruckers candy store. He gives me hard candy once a week for helping him sweep his store!”
Death leads him in and points to Mr. Brucker and says, he will die tomorrow. His heart is weak and can no longer keep working as it once did. That is why he will die. Death then leads Tommy in back and points to Ms. Brucker, and says, “She will die next year her heart will be broken tomorrow and will not be able to live without Mr. Brucker. That is why she will die.”
He leads Tommy out and points to a bad man on the corner and says, tonight that man will die, he will attempt to rob a store and will be caught by the police. He will try to fight them and will be shot. He will die from the wound.
Tommy stops death and says with tears in his eyes, “can’t he be saved?” no one can save him tommy, except himself. He must choose not to be bad. And I am afraid Tommy he likes being bad. That is why he will die.”
Death takes his hand and walks a little further on, look there Tommy; see that girl crossing the street? She will die because she did not look both ways before she crossed.” And at that very moment a car ran her over. Tommy watched as she stood up out of her body and disappeared in a pretty white light.
“Death,” Tommy says, “where did she go?”
Death looks at the place she had been and says, well Tommy everyone goes to different places. Christens go to heaven, as do Muslims. Those of other faiths go to where their different gods live. It depends on who you are and how you live; your life.
Tommy smiles and says “I hope I go to heaven”.
Death leads Tommy to a house a little further down, and enters. There he points to Tommys' mother; she is crying and sitting in the dark. Tommy wants to go to her but death holds him back and says, “she will come to you Tommy.”
Tommy looks at death and smiles asking, “really why?” well Tommy you died last week, you were so very sick for so long, and now your mother is very sad. She cannot bear to live without you. So she will take her own life.”
And as death says it. Tommys mother takes a hand full of pills, closes her eyes, and dies. Death lets go of tommys hand and lets him go to her. They hug and are very happy to be together again. She kisses him and holds him as tight as she can.
Tommy looks back at Death, he is still there. Tommy ask “is there anything more after you come. Is there more after we die?”
Death says “again Tommy it depends on your faith, and how you live your life.” You Tommy will find out soon, just remember. Everything dies, for one reason or another, it is part of life. Without me, there can be no life.
